Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is an in depth “talking therapy” where client and therapist meet regularly to explore emotional difficulties through discussions and interactions with the therapist.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy has an emphasis on how we relate to others and the relationship, views and beliefs we also hold about ourselves. In Psychodynamic Psychotherapy clients are encouraged to talk about their childhood, adolescence and adulthood as this treatment model considers how our psychological and emotional development occurs over time.

From these discussions and interactions insight into difficulties can be gained and new awareness and personal growth can occur to ease distressing symptoms and ease unhelpful relationship patterns.

What commitment do I need to make

An initial appointment will be offered to assess the nature of the problem, offer some formulation thoughts to you about it and make a recommendation as to the best way forward. Subsequent appointments are usually on a weekly basis and last for 50 minutes. Treatment can be short or longer term if your difficulties are longer standing or are more complex in nature and therefore require more time.
